I am starting this blog at a time in my life when I am actually moving away from a lot of this kind of food. But my children and grandchildren still prefer these old favorites that they grew up on; and they are better for them than the prepackaged kind they get in the supermarket.
I come from a family of good cooks. My mother and father were both excellent cooks. And growing up in a family of twelve, there was plenty of cooking to be done. We bonded best over food – still do, actually.
I am starting a sister blog at the same time as this one. There I will share my journey as I work my way through healthier recipes and cooking tips. I shall set up a link from this blog for anyone who is interested in sampling healthier fare.
